May 9th, 2025 Third Week of Easter Griffin Families, With the announcement that Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost has been chosen as the new pope and leader of the Catholic Church, we celebrate this special graduation day for our seniors with the First “Urbi et Orbi” Blessing of the Holy Father Leo XIV: It is the peace of the risen Christ. A peace that is unarmed and disarming, humble and persevering. A peace that comes from God, the God who loves us all, unconditionally. We can still hear the faint yet ever courageous voice of Pope Francis as he blessed Rome, the Pope who blessed Rome, who gave his blessing to the world, the whole world, on the morning of Easter. Allow me to extend that same blessing: God loves us, God loves you all, and evil will not prevail! All of us are in God’s hands. So, let us move forward, without fear, together, hand in hand with God and with one another other! We are followers of Christ. Christ goes before us. The world needs his light. Humanity needs him as the bridge that can lead us to God and his love. Help us, one and all, to build bridges through dialogue and encounter, joining together as one people, always at peace. Thank you, Pope Francis! A special greeting to the Church of Rome! Together, we must look for ways to be a missionary Church, a Church that builds bridges and encourages dialogue, a Church ever open to welcoming, like this Square with its open arms, all those who are in need of our charity, our presence, our readiness to dialogue and our love. To all of you, brothers and sisters in Rome, in Italy, throughout the world: we want to be a synodal Church, a Church that moves forward, a Church that always seeks peace, that always seeks charity, that always seeks to be close above all to those who are suffering. Today is the day of the Prayer of Supplication to Our Lady of Pompeii. Our Mother Mary always wants to walk at our side, to remain close to us, to help us with her intercession and her love.

15th May - Field Day and BBQ 16th May - 5th & 8th Bridging Ceremony 16th May - Last Day of School Walk-A-Thon Forms and Money Forms with money were meant to be returned to the Main Campus Office by Friday, May 9th. However, with it being graduation day, we will still count forms handed in on Monday for the top fundraiser prizes! Please return all forms with payment to the office before the end of school. Field Day We have friendly all-school house competitions on the field of Main Campus in the form of races, water play, and obstacle courses. We have also arranged a dunk tank! Please make sure students are wearing a plain t-shirt in their house color - the cheapest and readily available are from Hobby Lobby for around $2.99. Students often have friends write on these. Pick up for all students will be from Main Campus at 3pm. Family BBQ Prior to Field Day, we host the annual family BBQ. Mrs. Hurley and Mrs. Nelson have been organizing this years' events and this is an excellent opportunity to get those final PIP points in. In the past we have assigned sides, salads, etc but to make this ALL FAMILY event a success, please consider signing up for something you would prefer to bring HERE. We understand that not all parents are able to get away from work, so please also use the link above to confirm if your family will be there to enjoy the meal. This allows for better guesstimates on cooking and catering numbers. Last Day of School We request that all students attend the last day of school to attend the 2025 Bridging Ceremony for the 5th and 8th Grade classes on May 16th, at Main Campus. If you wish to attend, please be seated by 10:20am. We will be treated to an instrumental performance by our students followed by the bridging ceremony itself. All Main Campus (PreK - 5th Grade) students will be dismissed to their classrooms from the gym and can be picked up outside, as usual. Year at a Glance The 2025-2026 academic calendar is now available to download HERE. Athletics Registrations We have opened registrations for 2025/2026 Fall Athletics early (please see previous communication through PlusPortals). 2025 Prom Prom, an iconic rite of passage for many teenagers, has been a tradition celebrated by students since the late 19th century. Short for "promenade,” proms are modeled after the debutante balls of high society. The concept of a celebratory event for young people traces back to ancient Greece, when formal banquets, called “symposia,” were held for elite men to honor their transition into adult society. Often featuring lavish dinner parties, theatrical performances, speeches, debate, music and general revelry, the gatherings also involved excessive wine drinking. ancient Romans celebrated a young man’s coming of age with a similar banquet, called a “convivium.” In 18th- and 19th-century Europe, women participated in aristocratic formal dances and balls that grew in popularity, with debutante balls becoming common as coming-out ceremonies for the elite. Although it’s not clear who hosted the first American prom, an article in the December 5, 1879, issue of The Harvard Crimson references the “Junior Prom,” and an 1895 diary entry from then-Amherst student Dwight Morrow, who later served as an ambassador to Mexico and U.S. senator, cited that he had been invited to a junior prom at Smith College. An 1895 photo in the Smith archives shows a junior prom held at the school’s Alumnae Gymnasium. SACS Prom was themed Tale as Old as Time.... and it was a night to remember. Our students looked so grown-up and had an absolute blast that evening. Bittersweet time as we prepare to wish our seniors well as they prepare for their next life adventures. |

Griffin Assembly We hosted our first Warren Campus Griffin Assembly this year, followed by a wonderful Taco Bar. In years prior, only students that received awards were invited to an awards evening, however, in the spirit of community we felt moving towards an all campus event gave peers the opportunity to celebrate each other together. |
